Fixed-bed scrubber

The Mion Ventoltermica fixed-bed scrubber allows the concentration of odorous substances present in a gas stream, primarily fumes and micro-pollutant acids, to be reduced by means of the wet abatement technology.

The saturated air derives from:

  • biocells;
  • maturation areas for waste treatment;
  • production processed which generate intense and unpleasant odours, etc.

it is directed by means of fans to one or more than one scrubber, which humidify it with water.

Removal of the pollutants with this system takes place by dissolving them in washing liquid (generally water). If the pollutants present have poor water-soluble properties, their removal from the air flow is carried out using suitable acid or base reagents (depending on the characteristics of the pollutant). As these reagent combine chemically with the pollutant to be removed, they allow the pollutant composite to fall onto the base of the scrubber.

Further Details

The fixed-bed scrubber is a vertical washing tower through which a saturated air flow passes in an upwards direction.
The saturated air enters the lower part of the scrubber where it then crosses a number of fill beds coming into contact with the H2O and any other chemical reagents nebulized by means of spray nozzles.
A blade drop separator is housed in the upper part of the scrubber which allows the water to be retained. This is then allowed to condense and falls into the tank in the base of the scrubber. This tank is combined with a pump which allows continuous circulation of the water. It is possible to have a configuration with a vertical axis pump positioned on the external tank.
The treated air can be introduced directly into the atmosphere or sent to a biofilter, on the basis of the concentration and type of odorous substance.
The Mion Ventoltermica fixed-bed scrubber can be built in the following materials:

  • polypropylene;
  • AISI 304 steel.

ADVANTAGES:

  • reduced maintenance costs;
  • effective treatment of odours and polluting substances.
